The Costa Blanca Cup, which has been held in the towns of Benidorm, L'Alfàs del Pi, Altea, La Nucía, Finestrat, and La Vila Joiosa, is in its 31st edition this year, which is further underlined by the potential of teams that have come to the Marina Alta and Marina Baja from different countries around the world: a total of 19. More than four thousand players compete between national and international clubs and teams.
In short, this is a record-breaking edition for the international character of the tournament, organized by Tor-Sport Promociones Deportivas. A total of 208 teams, representing nineteen countries, with 4,000 players, their technical staff, and their supporters. While there is a notable local range, with 51 teams, the actual numbers of clubs arriving from outside the Valencian region are even: 80 teams from the rest of Spain and 77 from abroad.
Internationally, the consolidation of participation by teams from two regions of the world is important. On the one hand, the Middle East with Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. On the other, the Caribbean, with the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico with ten teams. China returned after several years of absence, as did Brazil and Taiwan, which doubled up in both soccer and futsal. Iceland, a country of barely 300,000 inhabitants and with very few federation members, has competed in 21 of the 31 editions of the Costa Blanca Cup. The United States' presence has also grown. In addition to this intercultural component between boys and girls from different countries, it is worth highlighting that among the Spanish teams there is a very special one: The Costa Blanca Cup organizers once again welcomed with great enthusiasm, also helping with their presence and participation, Arrels CF, a team in the G19 women's category, made up of players representing teams and/or towns affected by Dana, the unfortunate tragedy that hit part of the province of Valencia very hard on October 29, 2024. A team that originated for the Valencia Cup Girls last Easter. Arrels CF finished their group stage as group winners, directly advancing to the G19 semifinals, playing a great match, but falling one step short of the final.
