The Costa Blanca Cup has concluded its group stage in each age group
Starting this Thursday, the knockout phase begins for the titles of this international youth football tournament
A marathon third day of the Costa Blanca Cup 2026 took place. The international youth football tournament, organized by Tour-Sport Promociones Deportivas, completed the group stage for each age category this Wednesday. With the exception of the Under-8 boys (B8) and Under-12 girls (G12), whose matches are played in a double round-robin format with the top two teams advancing to the final, the knockout stages will begin this Thursday for all other categories.
Therefore, the boys in categories B10, B11, B12, B13, B14, B15, B16, B17, and B19 will now compete in the knockout rounds, starting with the Round of 16 or quarterfinals, as applicable, while the girls in categories G14, G16, and G19 will begin with the quarterfinals or semifinals.
This Wednesday, 84 matches were played between the various boys' teams and 16 in the girls' categories, bringing the total to 100 matches across the fields of Benidorm, L'Alfàs del Pi, Altea, La Nucía, Calpe, Finestrat, and La Vila Joyosa. These 100 matches add to the 204 that have taken place so far in the Costa Blanca Cup (304 between Monday and Wednesday). Despite the high temperatures, health protocols and hydration breaks are in place.
Four thousand players from around the world, specifically from Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe, continue to enjoy this international youth football tournament, which guarantees intercultural experiences. This sporting event, held since 1994 and now in its 32nd edition, features 206 teams (117 from abroad and 89 from Spain). The teams come from Brazil, the United States, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, and Venezuela in the Americas; Spain, France, England, Northern Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Switzerland, Estonia, and Turkey in Europe; Asia, with teams from China, Taiwan, and the United Arab Emirates; and Morocco, Nigeria, and Tanzania in Africa.
These figures are in addition to the Costa Blanca Cup futsal tournament itself, which concluded last Sunday, with 113 teams participating (57 from abroad and 56 from Spain) from nine countries: France, England, Ireland, and Spain in Europe; Canada, Brazil, Colombia, and Venezuela in the Americas; and Australia in Oceania.
The tournament, co-directed by Fernando Brotons and Daniel Artíguez, receives facility support from the municipalities of Benidorm, L’Alfàs del Pi, Altea, La Nucía, Calpe, Finestrat, and La Vila Joiosa. In addition, Kappa, Grupo HCB Hospitales, Fútbol Factory, Sala Marina, Aqualandia, Terra Mítica, Hotel Melià Benidorm, and Prime are also part of the sponsoring team.
